VALENTINE’S DAY: free afternoon admission to kick off "Vienna 1900" combination ticket offer!
The new "Vienna 1900 Combination Ticket" will enable art enthusiasts to visit both the MAK’s and the LEOPOLD MUSEUM’s eminent permanent "Vienna 1900" and Jugendstil collections as well as all exclusive special exhibitions of both museums with just one ticket priced at a fantastic rate.

Vienna (OTS) – The "Vienna 1900 Ticket" will be available at both museums from Saturday, 14th February 2015. The regular price of the combination ticket for the MAK and the LEOPOLD MUSEUM is EUR 17.90, while the reduced price is EUR 14.50. The combination tickets are valid for one year.
On VALENTINE’S DAY the MAK and the LEOPOLD MUSEUM invite all art enthusiasts to visit their outstanding "Vienna 1900" collections for free between 2 and 6 pm.
6 x free special guided tour "Vienna 1900: From Jugendstil to Modernism" for combination ticket holders from 7th March 2015
For half a year, the LEOPOLD MUSEUM and the MAK will offer free special guided "Vienna 1900" tours of both museums’ "Vienna 1900" collections to all "Vienna 1900 Combination Ticket" holders on the first Saturday of each month. The six "Vienna 1900" double guided tours will take place on the first Saturday of each month, with the first tour held on Saturday, 7th March 2015, and the last on Saturday, 1st August 2015.
The tours start at 11 am at the Leopold Museum and continue at 2 pm at the MAK. Each tour will take approximately one hour, leaving enough time in between for a visit to the MAK Design Shop, the Leopold Museum Shop or a break at one of the two museums’ cafés ("Österreicher" at the MAK and "Café Leopold").

MAK Director Christoph Thun-Hohenstein welcomes the cooperation with the Leopold Museum: "The MAK and the Leopold Museum share a fascination with Viennese Modernism. The MAK collection on the epochal artisan craftwork carried out in Vienna around 1900 is one of the MAK’s centerpieces, to which we have recently dedicated considerably more permanent exhibition space since the permanent presentation "Vienna 1900. Design / Arts and Crafts 1890-1938" opened in 2013. The MAK has highlighted the importance of Viennese Modernism as a source of inspiration for contemporary design, not least with its large-scale exhibition "Ways to Modernism. Josef Hoffmann, Adolf Loos, and Their Impact", which will be shown until 19th April 2015. Together with the Leopold Museum I hope that we can make even more people appreciate the timeless elegance and unbroken fashionability of Viennese Modernism".
LEOPOLD MUSEUM Managing Director Weinhäupl: "museum liaison" dedicated to "Vienna 1900"
Peter Weinhäupl, the Managing Director of the LEOPOLD MUSEUM, sees this "museum liaison" dedicated to "Vienna 1900" as "an expression of the good relationship between our two museums, which is characterized by mutual support, for instance when it comes to reciprocal loans of high-quality artworks". The LEOPOLD MUSEUM regularly shines the spotlight on art from the turn of the 19th to the 20th century. "Leading the way were our exhibitions on Kolo Moser and Joseph Maria Olbrich as well as the presentation "Klimt: Up Close and Personal" on the founder of the Vienna Secession’s 150th birthday. We are equally interested in rediscovering artists, as we have done for instance with the idiosyncratic and expressive painter Rudolf Kalvach and the Jugendstil artist Josef Maria-Auchentaller" adds Weinhäupl. From 27th February, the Leopold Museum will show the exhibition "Wally Neuzil. Her Life with Egon Schiele" dedicated to Schiele’s muse and partner, who was immortalized by the artist in one of his most famous masterpieces "Portrait of Wally Neuzil".
MAK and LEOPOLD MUSEUM: unique collection and collector’s museum
One of the most tradition-steeped museums of its kind, the MAK – Austrian Museum of Applied Arts / Contemporary Art houses a unique collection of objects from applied arts, design, architecture and contemporary art. Throughout its history, the "Imperial Royal Austrian Museum of Art and Industry" founded in 1864 has compiled an unparalleled collection, which comprises valuable Oriental carpets, porcelain and glasses, pieces of furniture from eight centuries as well as eminent objects from the Wiener Werkstätte and Jugendstil. The museum is also home to one of Gustav Klimt’s most important works, the nine-part design drawings for the mosaic frieze at the dining room of the Palais Stoclet in Brussels, which are on display as part of the MAK’s permanent presentation "Vienna 1900".
The LEOPOLD MUSEUM was opened in 2001 to house the extraordinary collection of Prof. Rudolf Leopold. By 1994 the museum founder, who had started to collect art in the 1950s, had acquired more than 5,000 works. The museum comprises not only the largest compilation of works by Egon Schiele in the world but also a comprehensive "Vienna 1900" collection. The museum’s eminent paintings, most notably Gustav Klimt’s masterpieces "Death and Life" and "On Lake Attersee", graphic works as well as select examples of applied arts created in Vienna around 1900 afford fascinating insights into the creativity of early 20th century Austrian art production.

The tours start at 11 am at the LEOPOLD MUSEUM and continue at 2 pm at the MAK. Number of participants: 25 people.
