Bill Murray, Roman Coppola and others were inspired by Schiele, Klimt and a glimpse behind the scenes of the museum

The Vienna Leopold Museum was delighted to welcome top-level celebrity visitors last weekend. Director Hans-Peter Wipplinger received a group of international stars who had come to Vienna for the opening of an exhibition at the Kunsthistorisches Museum initiated by curator Jasper Sharp and curated by legendary US director Wes Anderson together with his partner Juman Malouf. The multi-award-winning filmmaker (“The Grand Budapest Hotel”, “The Darjeeling Limited”, “The Royal Tenenbaums”) and the costume designer and author presented their exhibition entitled “Spitzmaus Mummy in a Coffin and other Treasures!” on 5th November.

Taking a keen interest in art at the Leopold Museum were US actor Bill Murray and the German cellist Jan Vogler, who recently collaborated on their album “New Worlds” to combine music and literature. Also in attendance were the filmmaker Roman Coppola, US artist Taryn Simon and art dealer Robin Hurlstone, as well as US actress Waris Ahluwalia and director Nicolas Saada.

Having toured the jubilee exhibitions dedicated to the artists of the century Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt, the celebrities were allowed a peak behind the scenes at the Leopold Museum’s art restoration department.
