Leopold Museum: “Early summer get-together” of the Circle of Patrons

The museum’s Director Hans-Peter Wipplinger, the foundation’s board member Agnes Husslein-Arco and the artist Erwin Wurm celebrated the closing event of the successful Spitzweg-Wurm exhibition

The Circle of Patrons of the Leopold Museum hosted an early summer get-together on Monday, 19th June 2017. The Leopold Museum’s Director Hans-Peter Wipplinger and the new member of the board of directors of the Leopold Museum Private Foundation Agnes Husslein-Arco welcomed guests to a champagne reception in the museum’s atrium. Hans-Peter Wipplinger kicked off the evening with a guided tour through the exhibition “Carl Spitzweg—Erwin Wurm. Hilarious! Hilarious?” curated by him, while the Curator of the Collection Franz Smola afforded guests insights into the museum’s Egon Schiele presentation.

The event marked the closing of the Spitzweg—Wurm exhibition which, attracting over 100,000 visitors, was one of the most popular exhibitions held to date at the Leopold Museum. Following the guided tours, the Circle of Patrons invited guests to conclude the evening on the terrace of the recently reopened Café Leopold, where they savored the balmy summer night over drinks and Asian delicacies.

At the event hosted by the Circle of Patrons, the Directors of the Leopold Museum Hans-Peter Wipplinger and Gabriele Langer as well as the foundation’s board member Agnes Husslein-Arco welcomed the artists Erwin Wurm and Constantin Luser, the collectors Prof. Toyoko Hattori, Roberto Lhotka, the attorney Bernhard Hainz (CMS Reich-Rohrwig Hainz) as well as Diethard and Waltraud Leopold, the artistic director of ImPulsTanz festival Karl Regensburger, the gallery owners Heike Curtze, Lisa Kandlhofer, Herbert Giese and Alexander Giese, the industrialist Cornelius Grupp, the General Manger of NÖ Versicherung Hubert Schultes, the surgeon Arthur Bohdjalian, Univ.-Prof. Peter Franz (head of the Rudolfstiftung’s ENT department) as well as Antonella Mei-Pochtler (Senior Partner and Managing Director The Boston Consulting Group).
