RESEARCH AND ARCHIVES

One of the main concerns of the Leopold Museum-Privatstiftung, along with preserving, presenting and imparting the collection, is to conduct scientific analyses and research. The Leopold Museum has several research departments: the Egon Schiele Documentation Center, which operates the Egon Schiele Autograph Database, the provenance department, devoted to the history of the collection, the Otto Prutscher Archive, the Archive of the Art Historian Otto Breicha on Richard Gerstl, as well as the museum’s library, whose many activities include the compilation and analysis of historical exhibition catalogues.

THE ARCHIVES AND LIBRARY ARE OPEN TO VISITORS BY PRIOR APPOINTMENT.
