The first basement is devoted to numerous works by representatives of various stylistic orientations, and throws light on 19th century Austrian art.


Biedermeier and „Altwiener“ (Old Vienna) school

Landscapes, rustic genre scenes, animal and hunting scenes, also portraits and still lifes by various painters including Friedrich Gauermann, Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller and Johann Baptist Reiter.

Classicism and historicism

Antique and mythological scenes by the artists Hans Makart and Hans Canon.

Mood impressionism

Landscapes by various artists including Emil Jacob Schindler, Tina Blau, Olga Wisinger-Florian and Eugen Jettel.
